With Fujiwara Dance: Moving Parts

Annabelle Chvostek is a singer-songwriter, composer, and producer whose musical achievements span across multiple genres. She composes music for dance and film, and has released 6 full-length albums, 3 of which were nominated for Juno and/or Canadian Folk Music Awards. She co-wrote two songs with Bruce Cockburn for the Juno-winning album: Small Source of Comfort, and was once a member of The Wailin’ Jennys (album: Firecracker), with whom she toured the globe. Her commissioned classical solo-cello piece for the Grammy-nominated Primavera Project had its debut at the 2022 Venice Biennale.

Annabelle began composing for contemporary dance three decades ago and has collaborated extensively with choreographers in Montreal, Toronto and NYC. Her electroacoustic score for Drastic Action’s “Desire”, choreographed by Aviva Geismar, was described by the New York Times, as “perfectly captur[ing] the inchoate pain of the choreography”.

Annabelle has worked with choirs since childhood, singing the lower of three parts in the Canadian Children’s Opera Chorus between the ages of 8 and 16. She has had a long and fruitful relationship with community-based Echo Women’s Choir, developing skills in choral arrangement and composition as their artist-in-residence between 2016-2018. Her most recent collaboration with Echo was a commissioned three-part piece, Waterways, which debuted in Spring, 2025.
